A UNIQUE area of land overlooking Redcar beach is being marketed as a prime opportunity for development.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council has identified the RKade site, which was formerly used as a skate park, as an opportunity for leisure-based organisations to bid their interest.
This is part of the council’s longer-term ambitions to revitalise the Coatham area into a leisure destination.
The council owns the 2.65-acre area, located on Majuba Road, and is advertising it as a long-term lease agreement of up to 99-years.
A mutual agreement was reached between the council and leaseholders Enterprise West to end the current lease, meaning the site will be vacant from mid-April.
Full demolition and site clearance is expected to take place this year, with preparation of the area for the upcoming development to be supported by funding from Tees Valley Combined Authority.
The council is also set to build a temporary car park at the Coatham Bowl site, as well as a large grassed recreational area.
