PREVIOUSLY unseen photos and letters relating to the historic Tees Transporter Bridge featured as part of the Friends of Bluebell Beck meeting in Middlesbrough

The quarterly meeting of the group included a talk by University of Huddersfield’s Dr Tosh Warwick based on the historian’s latest research on the region’s famous landmark.

The talk featured recently digitised material from council records alongside historic material from the collections of Middlesbrough Reference Library and Teesside Archives.

Middlesbrough-born Dr Tosh Warwick said: “The recently uncovered documents combined with existing historic material and research helps shed new light on the Transporter’s history, including revealing details of building the bridge, maintaining the structure over the decades and the ways in which the structure has evolved from a functional unconventional crossing to an award-winning heritage attraction.”
