MOTORISTS are being warned to be careful after debris from trees has been deliberately left on a road in Middlesbrough.

Over the weekend police have removed debris from the road twice, once at around midnight on Saturday into Sunday and once at around 4.20am on Sunday following a call from a member of the public.

It is believed that due to the position of the debris that someone is placing it in the road to purposely obstruct traffic on Flatts Lane in Normanby.

Groups of youths have been seen in the area.

PC Mike Pilbeam, of Eston neighbourhood policing team, said: “With no street lighting in the area and with the road having a national speed limit in parts, it is important that we warn road users to be wary as someone could be seriously hurt.

“Anyone who uses this road is asked to be mindful of potential debris for their own safety.

“Those who may be deliberately obstructing the road are being warned to stop now before someone suffers serious injuries as a result of their irresponsible actions.”

Cleveland Police would like to appeal for anyone in the area who may have information regarding the incidents to contact them on the non-emergency 101 number.
