Eleven sighthounds plus a companion Jack Russell took part in Hutton Magna's contribution to the Great Global Greyhound Walk last Sunday (11 June).

This annual dog-walking event aims to raise the profile of rescued and retired (ex-racing) greyhounds, showing the world what beautiful companions these dogs make. Formerly known as the Great British Greyhound Walk, the aim is to bring owners together regardless of where their hound is from, to celebrate greyhounds and other sighthounds, to raise awareness of hounds in need and to promote sighthounds as pets in a big way.

After the walk, the canine entrants were presented with a party bag of doggy treats thanks to the generosity of several local sponsors, while their owners enjoyed tea and cake in the village hall.

Donations and a tombola raised some £70 which will be divided amongst the GGGW, Stray Aid and 112 Carlota Galgos.
