Teesdale and District Lions Club recently celebrated their 30th anniversary with a meal at the Bridge Inn, Whorlton.

President Paul Beere welcomed guests from Darlington, Durham, Yarm and Hartlepool Lions Clubs, and also Barnard Castle Rotary Club. He also thanked proprietors Robbie and Kelly Stewart for a fantastic meal and welcoming hospitality.

He reflected that the club had enjoyed another full and successful year of local, national and international service, and now had more members than at any time since their first year of existence. They were now gearing up to host the 2015 District Convention for all clubs in the North East of England and Scotland, in 2015.

As is customary at club annual dinners, Lion Paul then handed over the chain of office to incoming President, Tammy Emery, who outlined plans for the coming year.

Finally, Region Chairman Nick Barron presented 30 year service awards to Lions Paul Beere and Jeff Dobson, the two surviving charter members from 1984, and Peter Russell who has achieved 30 years service in numerous Lions Clubs. Additionally, David Atkinson received his 20 year service award.
