Sunday 26th January sees the first of this year's monthly farmers' markets at Middleton in Teesdale.

There will be the usual range of locally produced fruit, vegetables, cheese, bread, cakes and preserves, as well as gifts and country products.

During the winter months, the market is held indoors at the UTASS premises, next to the Co-op, and is open from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

Ian Tallentire, chair of Middleton Plus said "There is no substitute for knowing the source and producer of what you eat; and how satisfying to make a gift of something you have seen made, or know is locally made. All this in the friendly market environment, but shielded from the winter rains indoors at UTASS.
