SONGBIRDS are needed to join the ranks of a choir.

Teesdale Ladies Choir hopes to recruit good quality singers to join it in 2020 as it moves into the beginning of its third year.

A spokesperson said: "We are a small but fun and friendly group who sing lots of popular songs in four part unaccompanied harmony.

"The ability to read music is not necessary as teaching CDs are provided for all the musical parts.

"However, a high level of commitment is required for attending rehearsals regularly and some self discipline in setting time aside for using the learning CDs at home.

"We are looking for ladies of all ranges but particularly those who sing in a very high or very low register although, of course, everyone is welcome to come along and give it a go."

The choir rehearses at Mickleton Village Hall every Tuesday, from 7pm to 9pm. Subs are £2 per week to cover the costs of all music folders, CDs and refreshments.

Anyone interested is welcome to attend a rehearsal session to observe or email teesdaleladieschoir@yahoo.com.

The singers can also be seen in action at The Bowes Museum, in Barnard Castle, on Saturday, December 14 when they will perform on the balcony above reception at 12.30pm, as part of the museum's festive programme which includes a Christmas market that weekend.
