A CAMPAIGN to raise money for the renovation of a hydrotherapy pool has received a cash boost.

The 'Dive In' appeal is hoping to raise £410,000 to refurbish the Pioneering Care Partnership's (PCP) hydrotherapy pool, in Newton Aycliffe.

The charity headquarters welcomed Woodham Golf Club captain Ian McKenna who donated £2,280 alongside “Honest” John Hilton who donated £1,000 to the pool campaign.

Woodham Golf Club’s charity of the year scheme awarded the Pioneering Care Partnership as one of the two charities supported this year.

The members of the golf club have had a busy year organising raffles, auctions and 100 square draws as well as a golf day and an evening event to raise money for the cause.

Mr McKenna said: “Although the captain's day was a total washout with over a 140 members and guests still participating in the golf day, there was plenty of pay-out as members enjoyed a wonderful evening and donated over £2000 to the 'Dive In' charity campaign.”

The PCP has raised more than half the £410,000 goal in an effort to renovate the pool which offers the chance for people to improve their physical fitness, make social connections, relax and relieve discomfort.

Mr Hilton has been hard at work in his bric-a-brac shop giving back to Newton Aycliffe.

He has donated regularly to the PCP for several years and added another £1,000 into the pot, he said: “It’s a small drop in the overall total however, it gets you closer to the overall goal.”
