MEMBERS of an organisation that travels around the world to help young people gain confidence, self-esteem and learn respect visited a Bishop Auckland school ahead of a project next spring.

Four members of The Young Americans Performing Arts Group and its tour manager visited at King James I Academy from the USA to make initial contact with the staff and students they will work with in February. A group of 25 Young Americans will spend three days at the school working with students in years seven to nine, sixth formers and members of RTS Theatre Group to create a show.

The Young Americans, founded in 1962, promotes understanding and goodwill through music, dance, performance, academic education and cultural interaction among their audiences.
