A DOGGY day care and training centre is bringing animal lovers together to raise funds for vital charities.

Best friend team and owners of K9 Pursuits Dog Day Care and Training Centre, Gill Crawford and Andi Rogers, wanted to host an event to support the Paws Up fund and The Lost Dog Trapping Team – UK Search and Rescue Network.

The pair saw the popularity of The Great British Bake Off and decided to host their very own ‘Great British Bark Off’ at their centre in Newton Aycliffe.

The duo are encouraging dog lovers to come along and support the day by raising funds to help dogs in need.

Ms Crawford, said: “We love The Great British Bake off and saw how popular it was so wanted to do something which would be fun and get people involved but also raise money – these are really important charities working to support dogs.”

“We’d encourage people to enter the competition which involves two categories, making something suitable for human taste buds and another suitable for doggy taste buds."

The event is taking place on Saturday, October 19, from 10am to 12.30pm at K9 Pursuits Dog Day Care and Training Centre on Aycliffe Industrial Estate, in Newton Aycliffe.

Bakes must be doggy themed and all ingredients must be listed.

An admission fee will be paid by bakers which will go to the charities.

To sign up to the baking competition call K9 Pursuits Dog Day Care and Training Centre on 01325-301177 or 07813-962077.
