AN annual agricultural show is set to return to a town.

The 166th Sedgefield and District Agricultural Show takes place at the Robert Brown Showfield at West Park on Saturday, August 10.

The show has been a tradition in Sedgefield for over 160 years and as the event continues to grow year on year, the show committee anticipates a record number of entries and attendees in 2019.

Ian Mason, show chairman, said: "After the increasing success and interest in Sedgefield Show, we are once again excited for this year’s event bringing new attractions in the hope to increase attendees from a record number last year.

"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their kind support and commitment."

There will be marquees with craft stalls, horticultural displays, home produce and handicrafts.

The popular food hall will make a return this year where there will be a range of community and regional delicacies on offer.

In the horticulture marquee visitors can view the prize vegetables, home and farm produce that will be on display, along with floral arrangements.

The funfair will also take place along for families to enjoy.

Gates open at 10am and car parking is free.

Tickets are available on the gate and cost £7 for adults and £5 for children over five and concessions.
