A MAN suspected of stealing money from a Post Office while confusing a cashier during a currency exchange is wanted by police.

Officers investigating have released an image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the suspected theft, which happened at around 4.50pm on June 13.

The suspect is said to have approached the counter of the Post Office on Willington High Street wanting to exchange a quantity of Euros.

After being handed the money in sterling, the suspect changed his mind and asked for the Euros back.

While handing the sterling back to the cashier, the suspect kept some in his hand before taking the Euros and leaving the store.

A Durham Constabulary spokeswoman said: “We would like to speak to the man pictured as he may have information which could help our enquiries.”

Anyone who recognises the man should contact PC Paul Canvin on 101, quoting incident number 136 of June 14.
