A CHURCH is giving photography enthusiasts the chance to win a coveted place in their 2020 calendar.

The calendar will be produced by the Friends of St Edmund's Church, in Sedgefield, who

are looking for copyright-free contributions to illustrate life through the seasons in Sedgefield and the surrounding areas.

A spokesman for the Friends of St Edmund's Church said: “We need unusual or eye-catching shots of local people and events.

"Pictures taken by young people would be particularly welcome."

Last year's calendar saw the images raise funds for the conservation of St Edmund’s Church.

It was the first produced by the friends and proved a sell-out thanks to the captivating images.

Copies were sent to church supporters from across the world.

Sedgefield church member Trevor Terry, the first person to join the Friends when the group was formed in November 1999, was first to buy a copy.

Once all entries are counted the photographs to star in the 2020 calendar will be chosen by a panel of church members.

Friends of St Edmund's Church secretary Alison Hodgson said: "This year’s calendar raised a significant amount of money to help with fabric preservation and other work at St Edmund’s but there is still a lot more to do."

Entries in JPEG format should be emailed to Ron Eyley at ron.eyley@btinternet.com before the end of June. Young people should identify their age.
