TWO students from the Chikara Dojo of Kyokushin Karate , based in Spennymoor, competed again martial artists from across the UK in the Kyokushin Welsh Championships held in Barry, South Wales, recently.

Black belt Lindsay Young, who hails from Canada, took second place in the kata category and brown belt Reza Azhadari-Nia, originally from Iran, secured a third.

Instructor Adam Walker said: “It is always a great experience for our members to take part in competitions, wherever they may be. The hard work our two competitors put in previous to this competition has most certainly paid off. I am very proud of Lindsay and Reza for doing their utmost and best."

In almost two decades, members have competed around the world including in France, Greece, America and Japan.
