THE outgoing Mayor of Ferryhill has shared the proceeds of her term in office between two good causes.

One of Councillor Dave Farry's final duties was to present his chosen charities– Ferryhill WI and Little Treasures Autism Group–with the monies raised throughout the year.

Fundraising events have been held throughout the year– including a charity night, carol service and a charity dinner– to raise a total of £3,258.

At the annual town meeting, Cllr Farry announced each would receive £1,629. He said: “I would like to thank everyone who has supported me over the last year, either by coming along to events or by donating prizes. I am overwhelmed by the support I have received and extremely happy I have been able to help two fantastic local groups.”

Sylvia Bell, of Ferryhill WI, said the group will use the money to get a local joiner to make a cabinet to display years of memorabilia.

And Little Treasures will put the cash towards social inclusion activities during the summer holidays, reducing isolation for hundreds of families across the region.
