A CHARITY has thanked those from a business who helped raise £300 to support a charity caring for people in and around South West Durham.

Those at Thomas Wright House in Byers Green, near Spennymoor, raised the funds to support Butterwick Hospice, in Bishop Auckland, by dedicating an afternoon tea week to the charity.

The owners donated 20 per cent of every afternoon tea which was sold during a week last month.

Fundraiser for the hospice, Milly Toner, thanked the team for all their hard work.

She said: "Esther and her team worked really hard on pleasing all of their guests with a delicious afternoon tea, and amazing customer service.

"We had over eight happy customers call us at Butterwick to let us know how beautiful their afternoon tea was and that they will definitely be back again.

"One lady said 'Thomas Wright House is a hidden gem and if you haven't been before you have to go'.

"We are over the moon with their fundraising efforts and can not wait to work with them again closely in the future.

"Thank you to Esther and all the team at Thomas Wright House."
