A COMMUNITY has backed a group of youngsters planning an overseas trip to help others abroad.

Teenagers from Sedgefield have been selected for an international project next summer by Girlguiding North East England.

Ranger guide group members Kate Wallace, Jenny Walker, Katelyn Craig and Abbie Walker will take part in the international trip to Sri Lanka.

The group need to raise £2000 each towards the trip where they hope to develop skills and explore the country.

Parent Susan Wallace said: “The girls began fundraising late last year. So far they have hosted a coffee morning, held Christmas stalls, and staged a fashion show, they really do deserve all the support they can get.”

Members of Saint Edmund’s Church in Sedgefield have banded together to donate items which will be sold to the Bag2School charity and go towards the trip.

The bags are filled with unwanted clothing, shoes, linen, bedding, towels, curtains and soft toys.

Bags can be returned to St Edmund’s Church.
