A COMMUNITY partnership is offering children the chance to take part in a week of Easter activities to promote a healthy lifestyle.

Over 30 youngsters from Shildon will enjoy four days of fun packed games and activities free of charge.

The event includes professional coaching from Sunderland AFC football charity, the Foundation of Light, and training from Shildon AFC captain Ben Trotter.

The week has been organised by housing provider Livin, together with Shildon AFC and Sunderland AFC’s Foundation of Light.

It will take place at Dean Street Stadium, in Shildon, and will provide healthy breakfasts and lunches arranged by Shildon Alive, the Greggs Foundation and Salvos restaurant.

Alan Boddy, executive director of housing and operations at Livin said: “This is a fantastic free event.

"It is aimed at encouraging children to be active and healthy over the holiday period.

"We are proud of this partnership and the work it does in Shildon and we hope everybody who takes part has a great week.”

The children's efforts will be celebrated at the end of the week with a presentation event where participants will receive Easter goodies and a Shildon AFC home shirt.
