A COMMUNITY came together yesterday to say goodbye to a dedicated resident who was 'mother to all'.

Friends and family paid their respects to community stalwart Doreen Kett, as her funeral was held at Woodhouse Close Church.

Mourners wore yellow - Mrs Kett's favourite colour - to pay respect to the great-grandmother who died suddenly last month aged 84.

Her coffin was adorned with yellow flowers and floral tributes - including one from children at Woodhouse Close Community Primary School - sat alongside it.

The service was led by Reverend Linda Dodds and featured hymns All Things Bright And Beautiful and The Lord's My Shepherd.

Last week, residents released yellow balloons in her honour at the estate's community centre where Mrs Kett volunteered for decades.

The mother-of-five was instrumental in setting up a cookery class and credit union as well as volunteering for the playgroup which was renamed in her honour shortly before she died.
