RUNNERS will get the chance to race across an ancient monument this month.

That's after the Durham Fell Runners have organised the first Cockfield Chase Fell Race, across Cockfield Fell, on April 25.

The event will be a half race, half social run with two laps, each of 3.5km.

It is suitable for those aged over 14 and beginners but off-road running shoes must be worn.

Cockfield resident and organiser, Andy Blackett, said he wanted to show how beautiful the fell is and how great it is for running.

Entry is £5 on the day and participants are encouraged to bring a prize. All who bring a prize will receive one and all money raised will go to charity.

Runners should park in the carpark at the top of the main street and not in the village. The post code is DL13 5HF. The event starts at 7pm and registration is from 6pm.
