YOUNGSTERS turned the literary works of Dr Seuss into a spectacular musical which was enjoyed by sell out crowds.

Almost 100 Barnard Castle School pupils, from years seven to 11, staged a four night run of Seussical the Musical.

The 90-minute show featured acting, song and dance based on characters and stories by children’s writer Dr Seuss– including Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant and the Grinch.

Show director and head of drama Scott Edwards was keen to include as many students as possible, with almost a quarter of the school involved on or backstage.

He said: “All the students have worked incredibly hard and the performances were all amazing. It’s fantastic to see students from every year group working together and supporting one another – it’s lovely to see the older students mentoring the younger year groups, and for those in year seven, it’s a really aspirational experience.”
