A COMMUNITY arts centre is on the lookout for a new manager after the man appointed to secure its future left after less than three months in the role.

David McKnight joined The Witham, in Barnard Castle, in early January, and said he was excited to help the centre following a successful fundraising campaign last year to save it from closure. However, he left suddenly at the beginning of this month.

Marketing manager, Sarah Gent, said he left for "person reasons" and the team "wish him the very best".

She said: "The Witham board of trustees, staff and volunteers are working to ensure we continue to give people a great experience whilst visiting Barnard Castle community arts centre."

People are invited to see the centre's new programme which will be launched on Thursday, April 4, at 6pm.
