STAFF at Prince Bishops School in Bishop Auckland got into the spirit of World Book Day by taking part in an extreme reading challenge.

"During half term, staff were set homework to take a photo of themselves reading their favourite book in strange places," said the school's Rachael Myers.

"We have pictures in the cockpit of an aeroplane with the captain, riding camels, bouncing on trampolines and some levitation to name but a few!

"During an assembly, pupils chose their favourite extreme reading photo of our staff.

"Mrs Patchett, deputy head teacher, won - she's the one hanging upside down from the monkey bars!

"The pupils were then set the challenge themselves for homework. After entries close, the most surprising extreme reading photo will win a £10 book token."
