A CARE centre is inviting members of the public to learn a new skill or get fit this January with the launch of a new activity timetable.

The new classes at the Pioneering Care Centre (PCC) in Newton Aycliffe include yoga, knitting, art and cookery.

A four mile marshalled walk will take place from the PCC around the town on January 26 from 10am, raising funds for the centre’s hydrotherapy pool.

Walkers are asked to arrive at 9.30am to register and dogs are also welcome.

A toddler singing and dancing group will run weekly for eight weeks beginning on January 15 from 11am till 12.30pm. The class is suitable for youngsters aged between 18months and four years and is free.

There will also be a free Developing Emotional Resilience course starting on Tuesday, January 15 for 4 weeks from 10am till 1.15pm.

And a Hula Hoop class beginning Monday, January 14, for seven weeks from 5pm till 5.45pm costing £4 a session.

A cookery course will also return on Friday, January 18, for eight weeks from 10am till noon.

The course will cover how to cook a range of nutritious meals and is £48 or free to those on income related benefits.

A beginners knitting class will also launch on January 18 for eight weeks from 1pm till 3pm, showing how to read patterns and knitting and crocheting techniques. The course is also £48 or free for those in receipt of benefits.
