TWO artistic hospice patients have found a way to raise money while relaxing.

Tony Thompson and Elaine Peacock are both patients of Butterwick Hospice, in Bishop Auckland.

A couple of months back they started to draw on small plastic pebbles as a relaxing and therapeutic activity.

They then moved on to decorating larger stones, creating all sorts of designs including sea creatures, animals and unique patterns.

Butterwick fundraiser Milly Toner said: "It then wasn't long before they were then getting design requests from staff, patients, families and friends, so they decided to sell them in order to make donations for the Hospice. So far they have raised an amazing £50 from work they have carried out within their time here, and they are now encouraging other patients to join in the fun."

She thanked them for their efforts.

The duo are now looking for new ideas for crafts and would welcome donations of materials they could use, to be made to the hospice on Woodhouse Lane.
