A TEAM of young volunteers is giving away cash to projects that support young people.

The 3 Towns Youth Forum secured £5,000 from the 3 Town Partnership for its small grants programme.

It is now inviting groups to apply for £500 towards projects aimed at children and young people aged nought to 19-years-old, or up to 25 years for those with special educational needs. Funds are available to projects in Crook, Willington, Tow Law and the surrounding villages and eligible projects could include trips, equipment, public events and group activities.

Nicola Woodgate, community development project officer for 3 Towns Partnership, said: "Having the fund to manage helps the youth forum members develop their own skills, they scrutinise applications carefully and they know the issues facing local young people so are well placed to know which projects to support."

To apply contact 3 Towns Partnership on 03000-267539 or email threetownsaap@durham.gov.uk for further information and to request an application form.
