PUPILS at one Bishop Auckland primary school have had a "fabulous finish" to their term.

That's as 180 children at Evergreen Primary School, in Bishop Auckland, enjoyed concluding their end of term topic Delightful Durham with an event called Evergreen Does History, on Friday.

Inspired by the town's live action show, Kynren, each class at the special school picked a period in history to study and re-enact as part of their own live performance in front of parents and carers on the school field.

Every period from the Victorians to Romans and even County Durham's mining was covered, while a handmade train also made an appearance.

Traditional musicians accompanied the performances and families enjoyed a barbecue lunch and Punch and Judy show to end the day.

Assistant headteacher, Faye James, said both the staff and pupils always look froward to holding a Fabulous Finish event to mark the end of term.

She said: "It was hugely successful as they always are. The parents love to come along as it gives them an opportunity to engage with the children's learning with the children and it's just a great opportunity to bring learning to life.

"It's gives our children a rich learning experience."
