HALF an acre of previously mined land– transformed over 20 years by gardening couple Godfrey and Alison Young– will be open on Friday and Saturday for the National Open Garden Scheme.

The Fold at High Wooley, Stanley Crook, DL15 9AP, will open from 10.30am to 4.30pm both days and plants will be on sale.

It features herbaceous borders, ponds, alpines, mature trees and a roof garden and is on a steep slope so not suitable for wheelchairs.

Admission £4, children go free.
