GIRL Guides can now wave their own personalised flags thanks to funding from local councillors.

Councillor Richard Manchester gave 1st Tow Law Rainbows, Brownies and Guides £1,010 to buy new flags and poles to used in parades.

The funding, administered by the 3 Towns Area Action Partnership (AAP), was further boosted by a £250 grant from Tow Law Town Council.

It also allowed Guide leaders to buy lockable storage cupboards, two portable ovens, a selection of cooking equipment, a camera and memory card, and a printer and ink.

Last month, Cllr Manchester and Nicola Woodgate, of the Three Towns AAP, attended a service in St Phillip and St Thomas Church in Tow Law, where the new flags were dedicated.

Cllr Manchester said: “Funding is hard to come by these days so it nice that we can help out.

“Brownies, Rainbows and Guides provide fantastic opportunities for children.”
