A CHARITY which supports seriously ill children and adults has received a cash boost thanks to kind-hearted truckers.

After a chance meeting at Sedgefield Truck Show earlier this year, the organisers of the Thirsk Truck Gathering invited Bishop Auckland-based Bringing Back a Smile to run a raffle and tombola at the two-day event.

Charity founder Kevin Hill and the team were thrilled to raise £834.64 and thanked showgoers and the organisers for their support. Mr Hill also thanked Enterprise Car and Van Hire in Bishop Auckland for renting the charity a van for free for the weekend.

“It really was something else to see so many trucks and a crowd of over 10,000 people over the two days,” he said.

“We decided to donate £100 of the money we raised back to The Tristan Lee Trust. Tristan was a well -liked trucker who sadly lost his fight with cancer. We felt it was only right to support his family as the truckers have always supported us.”
