A VILLAGE came together and raised £4,000 for Parkinson’s UK with a village fete on Saturday, June 23. Anthony Page, who was diagnosed with the condition five years ago, hosted the event in Windmill with fun for all the family including a visit from a fire engine, tombola and live music. Mr Page said: “The weather was just right, 350 people came and had a great time, and we raised just over £4,000 for Parkinson’s UK.”

Lunch club

A LUNCH club will be held at Witton Park Methodist Chapel today, from noon until 2pm. Entry is £5 on the door and includes a main and dessert.

Town meeting

STANHOPE Community Association’s annual general meeting will be in Stanhope Community Centre on Thursday, July 5, at 1pm. All are welcome.

Flower demo

THE theme for the next meeting of Shildon and District Flower Club will be Summer Gardens, when area demonstrator Barbara Collins visits on Monday, July 2. The flower club meets at 7.30pm at Shildon Civic Hall. Entry free to members, visitors £5 on the door.

Band concert

SPENNYMOOR Town Band and Youth Band will be in concert at Spennymoor Town Hall on Friday, at 7.30pm. Doors open at 6.45pm. Tickets are £5 or £2 for under 16s, from the town hall on 01388-815276 or any band member. There will be a grand raffle and licensed bar.
