A TOWN’S bonniest babies and their proud parents have been awarded trophies and prizes.

Photographer Chris Jaques organised a Bonny Baby competition to celebrate the launch of his new studio in Bishop Auckland Social Enterprise (BASE) in Newgate Street last month.

More than 30 babies and toddlers entered across the three age categories, and Bishop Auckland Town Team and the Town Ambassadors were tasked with choosing the winners.

After much deliberation, first place in the zero to one year category was awarded to Harlee Thraves, with Robbie-Lee Jones coming second. In the one to three years category, first prize went to Michael Wilson and second prize was awarded to Cassie-Jo Ferguson. And in the three to five years category, Ollie Hutchinson-Griffiths triumphed, with Charlotte Starkie coming second.

The winners received trophies and prizes, and their parents received canvases and large prints of their child’s portrait.

Clive Auld, of Bishop Auckland Town Team, said: “We were delighted to be asked to judge this competition. It was a tough decision as they are all winners really.”

Mr Jacques, 57, plans to repeat the Bonny Baby contest later in the year and is now planning a competition for twins of all ages.
