TEESDALE primary school pupils were treated to a musical workshop ahead of an annual festival celebrating African culture.

Pupils from Bowes, Green Lane and Montalbo primary schools enjoyed entertainment at the TCR Hub, in Barnard Castle, which was based around the upcoming Harambee Pasadia Festival in the town at the end of May.

The Afro-fusion festival was founded and organised by musicians, Hannabiell Sanders and Yilis del Carmen Suriel, who led the workshop which gave pupils the chance to play several percussion instruments traditionally used in the African cultures.The workshop was funded through the North East Arts Fund.

More free workshops for children aged five to 12 will take place at the Hub on May 6, 13 and 20 between 12.30pm and 2pm. To book a place call 01833-690150.
