A BISHOP Auckland school’s five-a-side football team is on a winning streak after making it to the regional finals of their latest competition.

St John’s School Under 12s five-a-side team have already won the Bishop Auckland and local area five-a-side competition held at King James I Academy and the county finals which were held at the Louisa Centre, in Stanley.

The competition was a round robin tournament with St John’s progressing to the next round after winning three of their four matches and finishing top of the group.

They will now play in the next stage of the competition - the northern region area finals which will take place on February 7, at Soccarena, in Durham.

And if they are successful they will go onto compete in the national finals in Birmingham.

PE teacher, Danny Palmer, said: “I am very pleased with how the boys have conducted themselves in both competitions, they have showed great team spirit and I believe this has been a big factor in them progressing.

“Hopefully they can display the same togetherness in the regional finals.”
