WET and windy weather did not deter pupils donning fancy dress to take on a charity run.

Pupils from Cundall Manor School, between Ripon and Thirsk, braved gale force winds and driving rain last Wednesday to raise funds for Cancer Research UK by completing Cancer Research UK's Race for Life.

The wet weather made for difficult terrain, but pupils as young as four and as old as 13 took part with plenty of youthful enthusiasm.

Several youngsters also decided to work together to tackle the course and compete in their own three-legged challenge.

Louise Bessey, assistant head, said: “The Race for Life is a well-established event in the school calendar.

"Obviously, this year we had to postpone the event until lockdown ended but we couldn’t return to school without having some fun and raising money for this fabulous cause.

"Over the past few years, we have raised thousands of pounds for an unbelievable charity."

The school have raised over £2,500 so far.
