A FOODBANK scheme in Northallerton has boosted its stocks thanks to a £350 donation from Taylor Wimpey.

Hambleton Foodshare is a community partnership which provides emergency food parcels for people who are struggling to feed themselves and their families.

It provides a three-day emergency food supply to people in temporary financial crisis and Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire’s £350 donation is the equivalent to 15 parcels, depending on family size.

The money will also be used for items such as nappies, baby milk, cleaning materials and cheese, eggs bread and spread which are added to every parcel.

Alison Grainger - coordinator at Hambleton Foodshare, said: “Thank you to Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire for their contribution which will help us in the early months of this year.

“In previous years there has been a lull in donations after Christmas, but the need is still there and therefore this contribution will make a real difference as we continue to face more uncertain times due to coronavirus.”

Steven Ball, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire, commented: “We’re very pleased to be able to offer our support with a contribution to Hambleton Foodshare at a challenging time in the UK.

“Giving back to the communities in which we build is a big part of what we do, and we thought it was important to contribute to this cause, helping the team to continue to carry out their vital and excellent work - they are a credit to the local area.”

Hambleton Foodshare is based in the Living Rooms building in Garthway Arcade in Northallerton and covers neighbouring areas such as Thirsk and Bedale.

It is open on a Monday evening from 4pm to 6pm and is operating at one person per family into the premises when collecting parcels due to social distancing measures.
