A CARE assistant has been surprised with a socially-distant baby shower by her colleagues at a care home.
Tanya Uluikadvu, 39, had a baby shower planned with her loved ones but due to lockdown she was unable to celebrate as planned.
So the staff at Sowerby House, Thirsk, decided to plan a surprise so that Tanya, who is expecting a little girl on May 30, got the celebration she deserved.
The idea started when a colleague decided to start a gift collection and soon the staff all pulled together and planned a pink-themed celebration with a cake.
Tanya said: “I couldn’t believe it when I walked into the room and saw what my friends at Sowerby House had organised for me.
“It was a bitter-sweet moment, it was a real shame I couldn’t celebrate as planned but the surprise baby shower definitely made up for it.
“Thank you to everyone who helped to make it happen.”
Home manager Katie Hodgson said: “We’re all great friends, not just colleagues, so we all pulled together to make sure she could celebrate the day like she deserved.”
