A HISTORIC house which is home to countless treasurers is hoping people will come along to have their own priceless masterpieces assessed as they play host to the Antiques Roadshow.

Newby Hall, near Ripon, will be the base for the recording of the BBC show on Friday, July 31 with presenter Fiona Bruce.

The Georgian stately house is home to Richard and Lucinda Compton. Mr Compton said: “We are honoured that the Antiques Roadshow has chosen Newby Hall as one of their locations. We are very much looking forward to showing off our beautiful corner of North Yorkshire to all the viewers of this flagship programme.”

Robert Murphy, series editor said: “There’s always a buzz when the Roadshow comes to town and we can’t wait to see what treasures and heirlooms will emerge.

“It’s a great day out for all the family and a brilliant opportunity to go behind the scenes of one of the of the BBC’s best-loved programmes.

“Our team of experts will be able to reveal more about what the items are and where they come from, and of course, that all important valuation. We really want people to come and find out if that mystery object that’s been gathering dust all these years is actually worth a fortune.”
