A GIFTED young violinist will perform at Ripon Cathedral alongside experienced pianist Jenny Stern next month.

Emmanuel Bach and Jenny Stern will perform a varied programme on February 10 in an event organised by Ripon Concerts.

Mr Bach recently won the Royal Over-Seas League String Competition and has been hailed as a gifted young musician.

He is gaining increasing recognition as a soloist and chamber musician, having performed at venues including Queen Elizabeth Hall, Wigmore Hall and St Martin-in-the Fields, among others.

Ms Stern teaches at the Royal College of Music and has performed extensively in the UK and abroad.

The concert programme is full of variety, starting with Mozart’s Sonata in B flat and includes music by Brahms, Britten and Tchaikovsky, ending with Polonaise Brillante, by the Polish virtuoso, Henryk Wieniawski.

Roger Higson, chairman of Ripon Concerts, said: “Every year we try and bring to Ripon young artists who we believe have real promise and are likely to go on to big things.

"Emmanuel Bach combines a high level of intelligence and the technique to interpret the music and communicate with the audience.”
