EMPLOYEES from a Northallerton manufacturer are putting their enterprise skills to the test with a take over of Yorkshire Cancer Research’s high street shop this week as part of a programme of fundraising activity.

Kerfoot Group, which supplies refined and speciality oils for the global food and personal care markets, announced a partnership with Yorkshire Cancer Research in May 2019.

Since then, Kerfoot has worked with the charity to improve overall wellbeing and cancer awareness among its 130 employees based at sites in Northallerton and Goole in Yorkshire.

The business has also dedicated its annual fundraising efforts to the charity, including raising more than £5,000 by completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. Employees will take over the running of the shop for a week.

Sarah Bradley, chief executive at Kerfoot Group said: “The charity is a key focus for Kerfoot and we’re excited to be bringing our own twist to the Northallerton shop."

Juliet Glendinning, director of brand and relationships at Yorkshire Cancer Research said: “We’re thrilled that Kerfoot is supporting its employees in this exciting team challenge. We’re very grateful for their commitment not only in fundraising to help people in Yorkshire avoid and survive cancer, but also in raising awareness among their workforce of cancer and the steps we can all take to improve our health and wellbeing.

“The Northallerton shop has raised many thousands of pounds for the charity since it first opened in 1965. Having Kerfoot employees involved in every part of the retail process will offer a real insight into the challenges faced by our volunteers on a day-to-day basis, helping us understand how we can best support them. It will also offer an opportunity to test new processes before we officially re-open the shop to the public.”

Kerfoot employees will sort and price stock on January 20 and 21, before opening the shop to customers from Wednesday, January 22 to Friday, January 24. Those visiting the town centre are invited to visit the shop and support this fundraising venture between 10am and 4pm from Wednesday to Friday.
