A WILDLIFE park is offering reduced entry charges throughout January to tempt walkers to take advantage of the beauty of the park in winter.

Thorp Perrow Arboretum, near Bedale, is also hosting a family winter explorer walk on Saturday, January 25 at 1pm.

Pull on your wellies and wrap up warm for an adventure around the Arboretum with Faith Douglas, park curator.

She said: "Let your imagination run wild as you dig down on the woodland floor to see what you can discover! Suitable for all ages, and fun for the whole family."

The walk is free of charge, and standard entry charges apply, which throughout January are £9.40 for adults, £8.40 concessions, and children ages four to 15 are £5.80.

Situated alongside the bird of prey centre, the mammal centre offers you the chance to wander through Wallaby Wood to feed, stroke and pet the wallabies, and see the meerkats on Meerkat Island.

Ms Douglas added: "There’s plenty to see and do throughout January, with a bird of prey flying display at 1.30pm, the kids adventure play area to explore, and of course the delicious winter menu in the tearoom.

"In the Arboretum, don’t miss the hamamelis in flower around the lake, and check out the unusual and interesting bark patterns on the trees in the Bark Park.

"We’re open from 10am every day."
