EXPERT astronomers, presenters and enthusiasts will be converging on National Parks across the region for the 2020 Dark Skies Festival.

From canoeing under the stars to hearing Sky at Night presenter Prof Chris Lintoft rexplain the secrets of the universe the final details of the festival have now been revealed. From Valentines Day February 14 to March 1 enthusiasts will gather on the North York Moors, the Yorkshire Dales, and the neighbouring areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Nidderdale and the Howardian Hills for a vast range of events to mark the festival.

Alongside stargazing, astrophotography, canoeing, running, cycling, walking, caving, night zip wire and nocturnal wildlife spotting there is also a star party with astronomer Richard Darn leading visitors on a tour of the universe at Keld in Upper Swaledale. The Whitby and district Astronomical Society will be organising a series of stargazing safaris. Virtual reality technology is also being used to add an extra dimension to the festival.
