BLUE Cross charity shops are calling on residents to think about animals in need when planning party outfits this Christmas.

The charity’s shops in Northallerton, Ripon and Thirsk are calling out for pre-loved sparkled, sequined and classic little black dresses to help boost their offering in the run up to Christmas.

And the charity is also calling on shoppers to think about trying pre-loved clothes and gifts before hitting the mainstream shops.

Danielle Dooley, manager at The Blue Cross shop in Thirsk said: “We all like to spoil ourselves a bit over the festive season and look our absolute best.

“By going for a pre-loved, sensational new outfit it won’t break the bank for this year’s office party.

“We are welcoming all customers and donations of frocks in good condition to raise as much as we can to give all the homeless pets in our care an extra special Christmas moment this year.”

She added that the shops also offer gifts ideas including books, ornaments and household goods for some early Christmas shopping.

Sales of all the charity shop items help the thousands of homeless, abandoned sick and injured pets cared for by the Blue Cross every month.

To donate items, take them to the shop or pick up a special donation bag from the charity to fill up and return. To find out more about donating, visit the charity shops at 161 High Street, Northallerton; Unit 3-4 The Arcade, Ripon and 46 Market Place, Thirsk.
