COMMUNITY groups and charities have joined forces again to light up a Northallerton church with 50 Christmas trees.

The Christmas Tree Festival at All Saints Church took a break last year after three successful years but organisers have revealed it will return for 2019 due to popular demand.

Organiser Harry Dyke said: “It is great to know that so many people want it back and we are delighted to confirm it is going ahead again.

"I would like to thank everyone who has been in touch and taking part.

"It is marvellous to see the community getting together and joining in the spirit of Christmas.”

The festival runs from November 29 to December 1 with local businesses sponsoring trees to be decorated by community groups.

There will be live music and food and a special “prayer tree” for people to remember family and friends who have passed away.

The renowned Military Wives Choir will be performing and the trees will remain in place for a special service on the final Sunday

Mr Dyke said: “It is a great spectacle and as usual we are expecting a wonderful array of imaginative decorations.

"We look forward to welcoming everyone to the church.”

The Festival was last held in December 2017 and attracted record crowds of more than 3,000 over the three days.
