AN OPERATIC society is preparing to bring a touch of glitz and glamour to the Georgian Theatre Royal, Richmond, in the build up to the festive season.

Richmond Operatic Society's production of Movies and Musicals, A Night at the Musical Oscars, will open on Wednesday, November 13 and run until Saturday, November 16.

The show is another original production and follows on from their recent successes with Sister Act and The Nativity Saga.

The show sees a cast of over 25 people recreating classical scenes from awards ceremonies through the use of 24 huge hits from the big screen and stage.

Chairman and director John Holliday said: “It is amazing to have such a talented group of members on stage for the whole production taking on huge songs from chorus numbers from Abba, Disney and Chicago to individual performances pushing themselves to new heights with songs from modern shows including Wicked and The Book of Mormon.

“Don’t be confused into thinking this is a concert. This is so much more with twists and turns, tantrums and triumphs, tears and trophies. An enjoyable night for the whole family.”

Movies and Musicals hits the stage from Wednesday, November 13 through to Saturday, November 16.

Tickets can be booked online at Georgian Theatre Royal or on 01748-818666 or by popping into the theatre box office.

Tickets start from just £6.50 and all performances start at 7.30pm.
