CHARGES for Richmondshire’s emergency call and welfare service for older and vulnerable people look set to drop.

Councillors are recommending that from April next year the weekly fee for the District Council run Lifeline service will be £6 – 25p less than the current rate.

Last week members of Corporate Board also agreed that car park charges should not rise in 2020/21 – but annual permits should increase by £10.

The permits, which allow unlimited parking in any of the council’s car parks, will cost £125 per year from April 1, 2020.

Currently around 470 people make use of them.

Councillors looked at fees and charges across all its services and agreed to some small rise of around 2% which overall, will bring in additional income of £26,000.
