A NEW charity calendar promoting positive images about people with learning disabilities has been unveiled by the Northallerton and Dales Mencap Society.
Richmondshire MP Rishi Sunak was invited to formally launch the calendar at the society’s base in Northallerton at an event attended by members, families and supporters who celebrated its completion.
The full-colour calendar features pictures of Society members engaged in activities which they enjoy and enrich their lives along with positive quotations about what they are doing.
Mr Sunak he was honoured to launch the calendar.
He said: “There is so much joy in these images. It will take pride of place on my office wall and I am sure it will give equal joy to everyone who sees it there.”
Sue Lear, the Mencap Northallerton Centre’s development manager, said the cost of producing the calendar had been greatly assisted by a grant from the Jack Brunton Charitable Trust and the help of Northallerton printers Imprint Services.
The Northallerton and the Dales Mencap Society, formed in 1964, is an independent voluntary organisation entirely dependent on fund-raising and income generated from lettings and other activities.
The calendar is now on sale for £5 and available from Mencap by telephone 01609-778894 or by email from admin@northallertonmencap.org.uk.
