A PRIMARY school rock band from a North Yorkshire School wowed a huge audience as they recently took to the stage at Flamingo Land’s Party in the Park.

Bangers and Thrash, a band of six nine year-olds from Cundall Manor School near Thirsk, won the chance to perform at the festival after winning the public vote in Minster FM’s Battle of the Bands.

The boys got to perform at their biggest ever gig as part of a series of concerts held at Flamingo Land.

Mrs Reece, director of music at Cundall Manor, said: “Working with a professional sound crew, playing on a huge stage with the “Bangers & Thrash” logo on the big screens behind them, and seeing so many of their friends in the crowd supporting them, made the whole day an unbelievable experience for the boys.

They had spent many hours in rehearsals over the summer holidays, and all their hard work paid off.

"What a wonderful opportunity for them; they are hugely grateful to the visiting music teachers who gave up their time to coach them, everyone who voted, everyone who came to support them, and to Minster FM for running the competition.”

Laura Castle, Minster FM breakfast show host, described the performance as 'epic'.
