A BEST-selling children's author will be revealing the secrets behind her popular murder mystery books to pupils in Ripon.

Robin Stevens’s classic boarding school series Murder Most Unladylike might be set in the fictional Deepdean School for Girls, but that won’t stop Ripon Grammar School pupils creating a mystery of their very own in deepest North Yorkshire.

First form pupils from the Grammar School, along with other local schoolchildren, will be discovering what makes a great detective before helping create and solve their own mystery with the popular American-born English author.

Ms Stevens first became fascinated by murder mysteries when she was 12-years-old and read Agatha Christie's 'The Murder of Roger Ackroyd', which got her hooked.

Now introducing younger readers to the joys of unpredictable whodunnits, the award-winning author will be talking to students on September 30 in an event organised by The Little Ripon Bookshop.
