THREE members of a Richmond charity which provides work and learning for adults with disabilities are taking part in sponsored swims to raise cash for the charity's Big Green Build.

Just The Job is a social enterprise which empowers adults with disabilities, to allow them to reach their potential and focus on what they can, rather than can't, do.

Verena Clouston, business manager, said the first swim was completed by Emma Williamson.

She said: "Emma did her two mile swim at Richmond Pool on July, and has raised more than £300. It is fantastic as she has multiple physical disabilities, I went along to support her and she kept going non stop for about two hours."

"The second swim will be by our occupational therapist Clare, who will be swimming the length of Lake Windermere – a staggering 11 miles in one go, on Sunday, September 1.

"The third swim is by another of our work team members, Alan Richardson who will be swimming 5km in Richmond Pool on Sunday, September 15. Alan has Down’s Syndrome but this certainly doesn’t get in the way of his swimming abilities."

The Big Green Build is a project for a new headquaters for the charity, incorporating solar panels, green roof, reed bed water filtration and straw bale insulation. £500,000 of private funding needs to be raised to fulfil this project.
